Special Sessions Submission Information and Instructions

You are invited to propose special sessions for the 20th Annual Medical Measurements and Applications Symposium to be held in Chania, Greece.

The symposium will include papers that advance the science of measurement and instrumentation as related or applied to medicine. This includes electrical, chemical, and physiological sensors and systems that deliver measurement data for prevention, diagnosis, or treatment of disease.

Special Session Topics should relate to a particular medical measurement type or a specific application.
Examples of previously successful Special Sessions include:

  • Mobile and Wireless Technologies for Healthcare
  • Biosignal processing
  • Novel Techniques in Medical Ultrasound
  • Quality Control for Medical Products
  • Precise Motion Measurement
  • Sensors and Electronic Interfaces for Medical Devices
  • Measurement for Rehabilitation and Home Care Assistance

In addition, the conference would like to organize an Industrial Special Session, reserved for representatives from the biomedical industrial world. If you are interested in proposing a paper for this session, you may submit your contribution in the same manner as full papers (see authors instructions) selecting the “Industrial” special session. Please note that papers should present a new technology or capability you are pursuing and should be technical in nature.

Submission
The organizers of the special session should contact the Special Session Chair with their proposal and their CVs. Papers for the Special Session should be identified as such but will be reviewed by the same procedure for all papers (deadline applies). At least 5 accepted papers must be received by the deadline to allow the organization of a special session. If insufficient papers are received, accepted papers will be distributed to applicable general sessions by the Technical Chairs. All papers must be written in English according to the guidelines provided on the MeMeA 2025 website. All Accepted Papers will be submitted for publication to IEEE Xplore. A Special Issue of IEEE Transactions on Instrumentation and Measurement (TIM) will be published after the symposium. It will contain papers selected on the basis of the results of regular peer review of the manuscripts. Each manuscript should meet the scope of TIM and be based on a paper presented at the symposium and published in the symposium proceedings. The manuscript must be significantly extended beyond the scope of the proceedings paper in terms of overall technical content and research results.
